At some point people are going to have to accept that the person they once knew is no longer the person that you are today – and if they never accept it, well “God bless.” This feels silly to even type, but many of you need to actually see these words in print – YOU DO NOT NEED TO ASK ANYONE FOR PERMISSION TO DO THINGS FOR YOU.
People naturally analyze and create their own assumptions about you as soon as they meet you. Then once you take it a step further and become friends or partners, they gain a false sense of knowledge about who they think you are and tend to convince themselves that they now know you. Sidenote – don’t ever let anyone try to tell you some bullshit like they know you better than you know yourself. YOU KNOW YOU. Let’s move on.
When you’re known for a particular thing – whether it be a sport, career, or skill – society will automatically box you up and wrap you nicely to be placed into a category. These categories are created solely to make it easier for people to label you as something they can understand. However, once you’ve been categorized, society has also made it extremely difficult to escape your box.
Now, if you manage to escape the shackles of society – welcome to alienation. This is where only you see and believe in the things that you wish to do – similar to someone who sees ghosts. You’ll be called crazy; probably get laughed at; may even lose some friends or family members; and climbing back into your box may feel like the safest place to return to – DO NOT GO BACK IN THE BOX.
We all know the cliché “think outside of the box.” – it’s about time you live outside of it too.
